Candace brings home lots of little games from school that kids like to play with each other, and her brother Joshua usually latches on to them. One that she recently taught her brother goes as follows:

Child 1 (to Child 2): Are you afraid of lollipops?
Child 2 (Usually confused by the question) : No.
Then Child 1 immediately motions like they will smack Child 2 in the face, forcing Child 2 to involuntarily blink.
Child 1: Yes you are!

So yesterday during sacrament meeting, Joshua played this game over and over with Levi, who never caught on to the game and defiantly maintained that he was not afraid of lollipops.

Fast forward to the end of church. My meeting finished first, so Luke and I hurried to pick up Levi from nursery. Then we went to the primary classrooms, where we waited for Josh and Candace. Josh emerged with a picture he'd colored as well as an orange sucker. We collected Candace and then headed home.

Joshua was in a good mood, so he offered to share a lick of his sucker with each of his siblings- first Luke, then Candace. Lastly, he held the sucker in front of Levi, who excitedly took a big lick and exclaimed, "See! I'm not!"

We got to do a lot of fun things with Grandma Jones when she was here visiting. She took us to the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point. It was a lot of fun. The kids were amazed by what they saw.

The boys are watching some paleontologists.

Candace was convinced these mannequins were real people.

Exploring some caves.

The kids enjoyed building this dinosaur. You could put arms and legs and heads and tails on with velcro.

The kids loved playing in this sand and water.

Luke spent most of the time in his stroller.

Seeing how much they weighed in comparison to some dinosaurs. The kids wanted me to get on the scale alone. I refused.

Luke was really scared of this dinosaur statue for some reason.

Joshua was most impressed by this shark. In the picture above, they are making faces like sharks.

The kids loved this station where they got to pretend to be REAL paleontologists and dig and brush off dinosaur bones.

Joshua took this VERY seriously.

You might be wondering what this picture is all about... well ... Luke decided he wasn't quite done with his bath after he was all washed, dried and dressed. Little stinker.

Candace on her first day of 2nd Grade.

Candace is in Miss Giles 2nd grade class. There are 14 boys and 8 girls in her class. Her teacher loves Winnie the Pooh and the whole classroom is decorated in this theme. She has been at school for a week and loves it already. She got glasses the Saturday before school started. What a cutie.
Candace has been updating her blog so take a look if you get the chance.

Bat Wings - August 24, 2012

This morning while playing outside with the boys ...
we got a visitor ...

Joshua has been asking for a long time for me to help him make bat wings. Well we decided to do it today.  We got a big cardboard box (thanks, Becky) and we cut it into the right shape.

I attached some string to make arm slots. Then the boys helped me paint both sides.

Joshua LOVES them. He told me he never wants to take them off.

Joshua's Soccer Game - August 23, 2012

There are a ton of pictures in this post and all of them are of Joshua in his soccer game today. I included so many because it was so much fun watching him play. He really LOVED it. He was right in the middle of the action the whole game. He was always at the front of the "beehive" and scored his team's three goals. He was also the only one concerned with protecting his own team's goal. That wasn't on the radars of the other four-year-olds on either team. If you look closely at the pictures you can see how much fun he was having.
