last day of preschool

Candace has really enjoyed this last school year. She had amazing preschool teachers and had a lot of unique learning opportunities. Joshua and I got to spend her last day of preschool with her.

Upon arrival each student hangs up their coat, get their name tag and go to answer the "question of the day." Today's question:

These are all the jobs each child takes turns being responsible for.

Story time:

Candace and her head teacher, Mr. Brad.

Snack time:

This was one of my favorite aspects of her preschool. They had this two-story play structure that was at times a bookstore, travel agency, restaurant, bakery, library, gym, house, etc, etc, etc. This time it was a pirate ship.

Candace with her close friend, Alison. They had a great time together.

Group project time:

happy birthday

Candace is getting more and more excited for her birthday coming up in July. Today while picking up James she asked James and I if we could stop eating so that we can save up money to get her a birthday present.

the makings of a mother

Today as we were walking home from the playground Candace said, "It's not fun to be a mom." My first thought was, "Yeah it's really not that much fun sometimes. It's a lot of hard work." Then I started worrying that she was becoming too influenced by worldly ideas. As I was imagining what I needed to say to encourage the idea of motherhood in her mind I thought to ask one question first. I asked her, "Why?" She replied, "Because mom's never play, they only talk and talking is boring." Phew! Something much more basic was going on here.

great-grandpa horne

levi and aunt becky

Becky fed Levi creamed eggs on toast. He LOVED it. He ate his portion, Candace's and Joshua's. At least one of my kids likes my dinners (see previous post).
